Every second year 500 residents from each of the 12 cities, alongside 1,500 residents from 'the rest of New Zealand' are surveyed on a range of quality of life issues.

The Quality of Life Project was established in 1999 to provide social, economic and environmental indicators of quality of life in New Zealand’s six largest cities. The Quality of Life Project has since expanded to include twelve territorial authorities. Almost 56% of the total population of New Zealand resides in these cities. |
